Special kit designed specifically to fit 99-04 Land Rover Discovery 2.   Provides much more consistent temperature around selected thermostat setting.  Improved reliability over factory system.  Includes two paper gaskets, your choice of temperatures in one high quality thermostat, hose splice that goes in place of factory thermostat, bolts, and full instructions.  Existing hose clamps and hoses are re-used.  Thermostat delete option also available. Note:  The sensor port up variant does not fit as tightly to the radiator shroud as the sensor port down variant does (see photos below).  Sensor port up variant is for users who want to run an external temperature gauge.

Extra thermostat elements, re-usable Fel-Pro gasket, and/or extra paper gaskets available as spares.

Normal, close fitting variant shown below (sensor port down).

Optional sensor port up variation shown below, for installation of temperature sensor.

Optional re-usable silicone gasket shown below - installation either side of thermostat acceptable.

Great quality product. Much better than the plastic OEM thermostat set up. Also better and more consistent engine temps. Highly Recommend

    Inline Thermostat

Best mod for a DII's coolant system! Since I installed the inline mod my temps have not been over 200 with the 180 thermostat. Great price and Tim's customer service is top notch!

    A Must-Buy for any Disco 2

Posted by Jeff Batterton on Jul 27th 2021

I bought this kit while on vacation as my 2004 Disco was having trouble keeping the temps down in warmer climates (100°+) while playing in the mountain trails with the A/C running. I had already replaced the fan/clutch and tested the radiator to ensure it was working properly. So I figured this kit would be easy enough to try out. I was right. The kit was super easy to install (I did it in a hotel parking lot). I was able to do so without trimming the shroud at all so essentially, it's 100% easily reversible (not that I'd ever want to do so). Immediately upon installation, I noticed a massive difference. It's not magic, so the engine still has a little trouble keeping the temps down (Disco 2 life, right?

    D2 Inline thermostat

Posted by Mike Scarchilli on Jul 14th 2021

Thank you Inline Thermostats for saving my D2 from the Heat Miser! Install was easy and quick. The truck seemed to run cooler and idled smooth in 90+ deg. heat that day of installation. I didn't have a proper coolant gauge other than what is on the D2 Dash but the coolant temp was stable and in the safe range. I don't think I'll have to worry about any overheating or a blown head gasket. ;) Thanks for the kit and wonderful support pre and post purchase! Regards, Mike Scarchilli

Very glad I purchased this kit. The setup has dropped my engine temperatures down significantly and makes it easy to service the thermostat. Installation was a breeze.

    D2 Inline thermostat kit

Fantastic service and fantastic kit. Temps are much lower and much more stable than even a factory 180 thermostat. Install was a breeze. I should have done this sooner. Highly recommend for all D2 owners.

Land Rover D2 Inline Thermostat Kit

This installation was easy and theperformance is better than expected. 81 degrees - I-5 between Sacramento and Stockton, Ca.2250 RPMs/65 MPH - I run 265/75-16's on 8" TF rims. Radiator and Water Pump < 2 Y.O. Engine Temp. per Scangage before installation - 196-198, up Altamont Pass 200, 202-208 around town stop and go. Engine Temp. per Scangage - 182 Degrees on the flats, 184-186 going up Altamont Pass, 186-188 driving around town. This is one of the best mods I've done - maybe the best.
